Bottle Description

Loch Lomond 1973 is a rare single malt Scotch whisky from Loch Lomond Distillery. The whisky was distilled in 1973. It then matured for 45 years in oak casks. Long ageing changes the spirit. Over time, the whisky gains colour and flavour. As a result, the whisky becomes richer and smoother.

This Distillery has a unique way of making whisky. The distillery uses several different still types. Because of this system, it can produce many whisky styles. The Remarkable Stills Series celebrates this design. The series shows how the distillery creates its distinctive whisky character. Collectors often look for older whisky releases. Bottles from earlier decades are rare. Because of this, Loch Lomond 1973 attracts strong interest from whisky fans and collectors.

Loch Lomond 1973 Remarkable Stills Series The Remarkable Stills Series focuses on the distillery’s special still design. These stills help shape the flavour of the spirit. Distillers can adjust how the spirit flows through the still. As a result, they can create different flavour styles. This system helps give Loch Lomond whisky its character. Flavour Profile The nose opens with honey and fresh fruit. Soft vanilla and light oak follow. Gentle spice also appears. The palate is smooth and balanced. First, sweet fruit and caramel arrive. After that, mild spice develops. At the same time, light oak adds structure. As the whisky opens in the glass, deeper notes may appear. Hints of dried fruit and nuts can develop. These flavours add more depth.

Long Finish After forty-five years in oak casks, the whisky shows great balance. The finish is long and warming. Honey and oak remain on the palate. Finally, gentle spice appears at the end. Because of its age and rarity, Loch Lomond 1973 appeals to collectors around the world. Overall, the whisky highlights the tradition and innovation of Loch Lomond Distillery

The original Loch Lomond distillery was founded in roughly 1814, proximate to the Northern Loch Lomond area of Tarbet. In 1964, it was relocated to the Southeast corner of the Loch by the former owners of the Littlemill distillery. It was here that the first distillation upon the new site commenced. Despite the establishment changing hands once more, by the early 90s, Loch Lomond distillery could boast production in both malt and grain whisky, including single grain whisky and deluxe blends. Some of their heavy hitters have won various awards with notorious industry bodies such as the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2016, World Whiskies Award 2016, and the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition 2015.
