Cask Description
2013 Ben Nevis PX Hogshead Cask Overview This Ben Nevis whisky cask for sale was distilled in 2013 in the Scottish Highlands. The spirit first matured in a first-fill bourbon hogshead. Bourbon casks build classic whisky flavours. For example, they add vanilla, honey and soft oak spice. At the same time, bourbon wood keeps the distillery character clear. Later, in December 2025, the whisky moved into a Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry hogshead. As a result, the whisky will gain richer flavour. PX casks often add notes of raisins, dark fruit and chocolate. Over time, these flavours grow deeper. Inspectors regauged the cask in December 2025. The cask now holds 119.2 RLA. The whisky also remains at 57.5% ABV. This strong natural strength shows the spirit has matured well. It also suggests good ageing potential. Distillery Character Ben Nevis is a historic Highland distillery. It sits near Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis mountain. The distillery produces a bold style of single malt. Because of this, many collectors follow the distillery closely. The spirit often shows malt, orchard fruit and gentle spice. Meanwhile, PX sherry casks add deeper sweetness and rich fruit notes. As the whisky ages, these flavours blend together. The result is a rich and balanced single malt. Investment Potential Interest in Scotch whisky casks continues to grow worldwide. At the same time, stocks of mature whisky continue to fall. Because of this, collectors and bottlers seek well-aged casks from respected distilleries. This Ben Nevis cask offers several options. For example, the owner may hold the cask longer. Alternatively, the owner may sell the cask privately to another buyer. Another option is single cask bottling. As a result, the whisky may appeal to collectors and enthusiasts. With a 2013 distillation, strong natural ABV, and PX sherry maturation, this Ben Nevis cask offers an appealing opportunity for collectors and investors.

A richly structured Highland single malt combining long bourbon maturation with fresh Pedro Ximénez influence.
The nose shows waxy orchard fruits, pineapple and baked apple, layered with emerging raisins, fig syrup and dark toffee from the fresh PX hogshead. Subtle vanilla, toasted coconut and gentle oak spice provide balance.

On the palate, the spirit retains classic Ben Nevis weight and texture — oily, mouth-coating and fruit-forward — now developing deeper notes of black cherry compote, treacle, dark chocolate and roasted nuts. The PX sweetness enhances rather than dominates, sitting over a core of tropical fruit and mineral waxiness.

The finish is long and warming with dried fruits, espresso, cinnamon spice and polished oak, underpinned by the distillery’s signature waxy character.

Now part of the Nikka Whisky family, we blend centuries of Scottish heritage with global craft excellence. From our immersive "Legend of the Dew" visitor experience to our world-class coastal whiskies, we invite you to taste the authentic spirit of Fort William.
Founded in 1825 at the foot of Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis Distillery is celebrated for producing a robust, character-driven spirit that matures exceptionally well over time. Highly prized by independent bottlers and collectors, Ben Nevis has developed a cult reputation for whiskies of depth, complexity and individuality. Mature stocks are increasingly scarce, and first-fill bourbon casks from strong vintages are particularly sought after.
