Red wine hogsheads appeal to buyers seeking casks with more distinctive early character. They offer a point of difference from standard bourbon maturation and are popular among collectors and future bottlers looking for variety within their portfolios.
“Kirkcowan” refers to Lowland single malt spirit produced at the Bladnoch site under a separate private-cask programme. The style is typically unpeated, light, and clean, making it well suited to alternative wood types such as red wine casks. These casks introduce additional depth and fruit character during early maturation, offering a different profile from standard bourbon or refill barrels.
